In Memory of LOVE

In the garden of memories deep within my soul

I tread softly for the lives and simple freedoms that lay rest

Beneath the soil…above the toil

Freed from the binding ties of worldly turmoil

Impressions etched in marble epitaphs and sculpted in statuaries

Traces of warm remembrance in solitude and stone

The sky will never hold more than all the paths of the unreturning to normal

Laid out the length of undone…unspoken goodbyes

Eyes that sleep on the wind of a last breath

And the rain that falls expectant on windows

And those left within to live without…

You who lie there in the shade of stone and wreath

We write your names in a moment of sadness and grief

On our memories with timeless ink

Sacred and solemn in reverence with undying gratitude

Until the sun shines on again another

May that you still bear the weight of sacrifice for the good of all life

In the soil above your graves

Do you remember when we were light beings

When we lived without giving thought to mask, shelter or hide

Remember when we loved for the sake of love

And when we’d get together without needing a reason

Do you remember unconditional love

I mean real unconditional love

Back when what we did actually seemed to matter

When we had each other to believe in Do you remember when we lived in freedom

And it wasn’t just a dream we believed in

Do you remember when our little personal revolutions were evolutionary

When we could trust everyone and everything we were seeing

This new world…this new way of living seems so foreign

Everything that now comes with rules

Times gone by of days past when everything was simple, peaceful and undisturbed

And in the process of forgetting everything

We find ourselves remembering everything
